Don’t know where to start. I had been to Varadero several times, and so far this is the best resort I have ever stayed in. Check in was quick and smooth. We had two rooms one on floor 9 and the other one on level 8, both were Select Rooms, which I highly recommend, such places are amazing and with a perfect sea and pool view. Rooms are clean, comfortable, the beds are so comfy, they are perfect.
We are just home today (15th June) after a fantastic 2 weeks at the Blau. We were on the 5th floor facing out the front and was not disappointed. Thank you to our cleaner for making our room comfortable every day (room 543). I thought the hotel was magnificent like something from Avatar the movie, especially when you look up from the lobby bar.
I never ate the same thing twice, and vegetarian/gluten free are well catered for. Loved the food and the service was second to none with Lovia and his sidekick and the two girls when they were off. There is so much space with all the different areas, in the hotel, the pool, the grounds, and the beautiful Varadero beach.
We used Thomas Cook to book a trip to Havana, which was very interesting (130pesos). We also booked them to go snorkeling, have lunch and see the dolphins (170) after a trip to the beach we discovered that you can go out on a small catamaran and snorkel for 20 pesos each, great value for money, our guide was the lovely Andover, so we canceled Thomas Cook.
The staff is so happy and friendly with their cozumel charters recommendations, and I wish I had written down names, but Lovia in the restaurant and Linet in the lobby bar are two that I can remember. Cuba is so safe you can jump on a road train from the hotel (2pesos) or the open top bus at the bottom of the road (5pesos) no hassle at all when shopping. Insect repellent is a must.
Great hotel fantastic staff is really friendly and helpful. Food good champagne/Prosecco is available at all meals. Big rooms. Plenty of sunbeds at the pool in the Shade and at the beach. Plenty wee stalls to get souvenirs from.
What a fantastic hotel, staff were beautiful, the hotel cleanliness full marks, from the cleaners up to reception staff they were the happiest and obliging people. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
